Act I Journey Back into History

The North.... The Ancient Kingdom of Lanna.
We begin our journey in the ancient Kingdom of Lanna, in northern Thailand, where the King and Queen lead a lantern-lit procession to pay homage to Buddha relics enshrined in the revered Chedi at Chiengman Temple.
The Maids of Honour dance gracefully as they carry the lanterns, and the Royal Guard display their ceremonial swordsmanship.

The South Seas.... Traders from overseas.
Here we witness an important time in Thailand's history, when trade from overseas brought not just wealth but artistic and religious influences from other nations.
We see the Buddhist Thais blending harmoniously with traders from overseas and helping to integrate them into the Thai culture.

Issan, the North-East... Legacy of Khmer Civilization.
Here we witness an important time in Thailand's history, when trade from overseas brought not just wealth but artistic and religious influences from other nations.
We see the Buddhist Thais blending harmoniously with traders from overseas and helping to integrate them into the Thai culture.

The Central Plains... Ayutthaya, the Migthy Capital.

Set in the period when Ayuthaya was the nation's capital, and Siam was beginning to develop relations with Western nations, we see ordinary people striving to make a living along the waterways of the plains of central Thailand surrounding Ayuthaya.
The work is hard but the land is fertile and the waters well stocked with fish.
In this scene we see the contrast between the simple way of life of the farmers and the opulent life of the Royal Court, as exemplified by a magnificent procession of Royal barges.

Act II Journey beyond Imagination

Despite the diverse cultures and livelihood, Thai people are all bound by a common belief in the religious principle of the Law of Karma. The good deeds or bad deeds in this world will result in merit or suffering in the next life.
In Act 2 we visit the three realms central to traditional Thai beliefs.

Fiery Hell.
Fiery Hell, where the flames are fuelled by peoples sins, is ruled by Phrayom. He ensures that the condemned souls receive punishment that matches the nature and gravity of their crimes.
Liars have their tongues torn out; alcoholics are forced to drink from a cauldron of boiling water; adulterers must climb a tree bristling with sharp thorns.

The Mystical Forest of Himalayan...
Himalayan is a mystical forest that exists at the boundary between our earthly realm and heaven. This beautiful and mysterious forest is populated by magical creatures such as kinaree (half woman-half bird), and nareepon (beautiful girls born from trees as fruit).
In this scene we see Mekala & Ramasoon, demi-gods who are believed in Thai mythology to be the progenitors of lightning and thunder.

Blissful Heaven...
Lord Indra, the God of Gods, presides over Blissful Heaven from his seat atop Mount Phrasumera, at the centre of the universe.
As he awaits the arrival of a consort, he is serenaded with celestial music by the divas and angels who accompany him everywhere to serve and entertain him.

Act III Journey Through Joyous Festivals

Thai Buddhists believe that to go to heaven, one must gather merit on earth. Thai culture is full of a wide variety of merit-making festivals, which combine religious ceremony with colorful and joyful celebration.
In Act 3 we witness some of the most popular and important festivals....

In Thailand many popular festivals are celebrated throughout the course of a year.
Associated with seasonal changes and important religious events, the festivals are opportunities for Thai people to make merit, but they are colorful and fun too.
Some are national festivals, others are specific to different regions, but each festival has it's own unique character.

In the final act we show you of the most distinctive examples, such as 'Loy Krathong'. A favourite festival all over Thailand, this is celebrated on the full moon of the 12th lunar month.
Elaborate and beautiful floats or 'krathong' are decorated with banana leaves and flowers, candles and coins and released on waterways as offerings to the Goddess of Water, Mae Kongkha. They are to ask forgiveness for any harm which has been caused to those waterways. It is also believed that a person's own misfortunes will be washed away along with the krathong.

The show starts at 20.30hrs, but our gates open at 17.30hrs for access to the restaurant, and to give visitors a chance to enjoy our other attractions...

Phuket Floating Market

Thailand has long been known for its Floating Markets, where farmers and tradesmen have traditionally made use of the country's extensive network of rivers and canals (or 'klongs' in Thai) to buy, sell or barter merchandise and fresh produce. Here at Siam Niramit Phuket we have recreated just such a Floating Market on our own lake, so that you can experience the bustling activity and rich colours for which such markets are known around the world.

Entertainment

Traditional Music & Dance.
To keep our guests entertained before the main show starts, our performers stage small open-air performances of traditional Thai music and dance in the elegant surroundings of the courtyard.
